The Fight Against Corruption in Zambia
ASD actively engages in raising awareness about the dangers of corruption, particularly its impact on vulnerable communities, service delivery, and economic development. Through public campaigns, workshops, and community outreach, ASD educates citizens on the importance of integrity, transparency, and accountability in governance. By highlighting the direct link between corruption and the challenges of poverty, inequality, and unemployment, ASD encourages citizens to become more vigilant and involved in holding leaders and institutions accountable.
Our awareness programs are designed to empower individuals, especially the youth, to demand transparency in government processes, financial management, and the delivery of public services. ASD promotes the use of technology and digital tools to enhance transparency, such as e-governance platforms that allow citizens to track public spending and report instances of corruption.
Plant A tree for Every Citizen Campaign
At Advocates for Sustainable Development, we believe that creating sustainable practices is not only essential for environmental preservation but also a powerful way to educate and empower future generations. One of our key initiatives is planting tree nurseries in schools across Zambia. This initiative is a fundamental part of our broader “Plant a Tree for Every Zambian Citizen” campaign, aimed at combating deforestation, mitigating the effects of climate change, and promoting environmental stewardship.
Why Tree Nurseries in Schools?
Tree nurseries in schools serve as a learning tool, transforming students into active participants in environmental protection. These nurseries allow young people to engage in the full life cycle of trees from planting seeds to caring for seedlings and transplanting them into the environment. By starting in schools, we instill an early sense of responsibility for the natural world in students, nurturing future environmental advocates.
-
Environmental Education: Establishing tree nurseries in schools creates a living classroom where students learn about ecosystems, the importance of trees, and sustainable land use. This hands-on experience teaches students how trees help reduce carbon emissions, improve air quality, and combat climate change.
-
Practical Agricultural Skills: Through the tree nursery program, students gain practical skills in agriculture, forestry, and conservation. These skills will not only prepare them for future careers but also foster a greater appreciation for nature and the importance of environmental stewardship.
-
Community Involvement and Awareness: Schools are at the heart of communities, and by involving students, we also engage their families and the wider community. The tree nurseries become a focal point for environmental awareness and action, encouraging local participation in tree planting activities and fostering a sense of collective responsibility.

As an organization that believes in the power of youth to drive change, ASD has taken on the responsibility of representing young people in environmental conservation, climate action, and sustainable growth initiatives. We understand that the future belongs to the youth, and it is vital to empower them with the skills, knowledge, and opportunities needed to lead the sustainability movement.
Youth at the Heart of Sustainable Development
At ASD, we recognize that young people are not just passive beneficiaries of sustainable development they are dynamic agents of change. In line with global frameworks such as the United Nations’ Agenda 2030 and Africa’s Agenda 2063, we actively engage youth in our projects, advocacy efforts, and decision-making processes. By representing young people, ASD ensures that their unique perspectives, ideas, and innovative solutions are incorporated into sustainability strategies.
Gender Based violence
we recognize that addressing gender-based violence (GBV) is essential for achieving sustainable development. GBV is not only a violation of human rights but also a significant barrier to gender equality, social justice, and community well-being. As part of our broader mission to empower communities and promote inclusive growth, ASD is actively involved in initiatives that tackle GBV, particularly among vulnerable groups such as women, girls, and persons with disabilities.
Why Addressing GBV is Key to Sustainable Development
Gender-based violence is a pervasive issue that affects millions of individuals worldwide, hindering their ability to participate fully in society. In Zambia and beyond, GBV undermines efforts to achieve economic and social progress, as it often results in long-term physical, emotional, and psychological harm to victims. ASD believes that eliminating GBV is critical for creating a safe, equitable, and sustainable future for all, where everyone can contribute meaningfully to development without fear of violence or discrimination.
